On July 2, the full roster for 2024 WNBA All-Star weekend was announced on ESPNโs WNBA Countdown.
The All-Star Game will be played on Saturday, July 20 in Phoenix and will feature the USA Basketball Womenโs National Team and Team WNBA, which was selected by a combination of fan, player, media and coach votes.
There was plenty of chatter about which players would make this year’s coveted All-Star roster, however, the following 10 players received the most fan, player and media votes: Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Kahleah Copper (Phoenix Mercury), Dearica Hamby (Los Angeles Sparks), Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings), A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces).
Because Boston, Clark, Hamby and Ogunbowale are not on the USA Womenโs National 5-on-5 team, they are automatically placed on Team WNBA and able to participate in the All-Star Game since they were among the top 10 vote-getters in the initial round.
To round out the 12-player Team WNBA roster, a list of the next 36 highest vote-getters who were not on the 2024 Olympic roster was given to a voting pool of the league’s 12 head coaches. The coaches were unable to vote for their own players and they were required to vote for five frontcourt players, three guards and four players at any position.
The following eight players received the most coaches votes: DeWanna Bonner and Brionna Jones (Connecticut Sun), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Jonquel Jones (New York), Kayla McBride (Minnesota), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana), Nneka Ogwumike (Seattle Storm) and Angel Reese (Chicago Sky).
Indiana came out on top in fan voting, with Clark (700,735 votes) and Boston (618,680) finished first and second, while Wilson (607,300), Stewart (424,135) and Reese (381,518) rounded out the top five players.
Before departing for the Paris Olympics, Team USA will take on Team WNBA during the sold-out All-Star Game at Footprint Center will be aired live by ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT. Prior to the game, the All-Stars will compete in a skills challenge and a three-point contest on Friday July 19 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
