See who made it to U.S. Championships — Leanne Wong grades herself at the U.S. Classic

The list of everyone who has qualified to the U.S. Championships is out!

No huge surprises here, at least to me. The athletes who qualified through last weekend’s U.S. Classic are here, including the all-around podium: Claire Pease, Simone Rose, and last year’s Olympic alternate, Joscelyn Roberson. Reese Esponda, who qualified herself to nationals and won the floor exercise title at the Classic out of the first session, is here (squee!). Tiana Sumanasakera, also an Olympic alternate for Paris, who has been recovering from an ankle injury she sustained at Pan Ams, is here and hopefully back to (mostly) full strength. Pan Ams breakout star Gabrielle Hardie and Alessia Rosa, the Pan Ams alternate, are also here. And Skye Blakely, who tore her Achilles training for Olympic Trials last year, is baaaaack! 

While the U.S. Classic is not a great metric for figuring out who might make the Worlds team this fall for the United States, Championships should offer a more nuanced picture of who’s out there and what they’re competing on the big stage.

Courtney Blackson, who competed at Boise State, will take a fifth year at LSU. Blackson had previously announced she would go to Auburn for her fifth year, but it looks like LSU won out. Get that NIL money, girl.
