As expected, Canada will be led by captain Marie-Philip Poulin, who is entering her fourth Olympics. She will be joined by 22 other players, including 16 who won gold at the Beijing Olympics.
The roster includes three goaltenders, seven defenders, and 13 forwards. All 23 players play in the PWHL, with the Toronto Sceptres providing the roster’s most players.
“Paring down the roster to the final group to represent Canada is always a challenging process,” Team Canada Gina Kingsbury said in the news release. “We are confident that we have selected a highly motivated and eager group who take great pride and passion in wearing the Maple Leaf.”
Team Canada will bring seven new players to the Olympics: Daryl Watts, Jenn Gardiner, Julia Gosling, Kristin O’Neill, Sophie Jaques, Katie Tabin, and Kayle Osbourne.
