Morgan Tuck, who played five seasons in the WNBA, is the new director of franchise development for the Connecticut Sun, the team announced on Tuesday.
Tuck was the third overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft out of UConn and played her first four seasons with the Sun. As director of franchise development she will be working on social justice initiatives, community engagement and fan development.
“I am thrilled to welcome Morgan Tuck back to the Connecticut Sun organization,” Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti said in the team’s release. “She brings a championship level pedigree and a thorough understanding of what it takes to be successful on and off the court as a WNBA athlete. Our players will benefit from that experience as we continue to build on the culture of success here in Connecticut. And as we look to the future, Morgan will be an integral part of our strategy to connect with key stakeholders in our community.”
Tuck announced her retirement from the WNBA in March.
“Morgan was a popular and terrific teammate during her time with the Sun,” Connecticut coach and general manager Curt Miller said. “She has won at every level and has the unique ability to help elevate the success of people and teams she is a part of. After her retirement, it was a goal to bring her back to Connecticut. We are truly excited about her new role with the Sun”.
“I’m happy to be starting this new chapter of my career and returning to the Connecticut Sun organization,” Tuck said. “We are looking forward to creating and developing new innovative ways to improve the fan and community experience.”
Tuck won four national championships in Storrs while playing for Geno Auriemma and also won the 2020 WNBA championship as a member of the Seattle Storm.
