Teams are arriving in Calgary for 2021 Women’s Worlds — Kendall Coyne Schofield wants more people to Invest in women’s sports
The IX: Hockey Friday with Erica L. Ayala, August 13, 2021
Hi! The IX helps build the necessary infrastructure for women’s sports media. By connecting these worlds, it gives women’s sports the networking boost men’s sports can take for granted.
Those of you who are our satisfied subscribers, tell the world! We are grateful for your support. And you can share the gift of The IX with those who would love us as much as you do.
If you’ve ever wanted to make sure women’s sports coverage looks the way you want it to, now’s your chance to do it.
Women’s Worlds time!
Teams have arrived to Calgary for the long-awaited 2021 Women’s Worlds. Unlike the Olympics, the Worlds have called the 2020 tournament an L and will title the Calgary event the 2021 Worlds (2020 was cancelled because of COVID-19). However, because of ‘Rona, Canada got to remain hosts (Russia was set to host 2021 Worlds).
It has been a journey to get this tournament underway, and with the Delta Variant creeping around (and being depicted in hilarious ways on social media), we really can’t celebrate until everyone gets back home COVID-free.
Here is a quick update on Worlds:
Finland hosted in 2019 and took home silver (oh, more on this)
Canada took bronze
The United States won gold in DRAMATIC fashion
2020 Worlds was cancelled, rescheduled, then cancelled AGAIN!
Now, teams are in Calgary ahead of the preliminary round starting
The United States opens against Switzerland on Friday, August 20th. Canada will take on Finland.
Here is the full schedule!
