Both skaters are third-year PWHL players with contracts that expire at the end of the season.
โWeโre thrilled to welcome Jessie Eldridge to the Boston Fleet,โ Fleet general manager Danielle Marmer said via a press release. โJessie has been a proven goal scorer at every level and continues to produce throughout her time in the PWHL. She has a high hockey IQ and is a dual threat, capable of making key plays and creating scoring opportunities. Weโre excited about the offensive instincts and competitiveness she brings to our lineup. At the same time, itโs never easy to part ways with a player, especially someone like Theresa, who has been with us since our inaugural draft and scored the first goal in team history. Sheโs been an important part of our group both on and off the ice and weโre grateful for everything sheโs contributed to our organization. We wish her nothing but the best as she continues her career in Seattle.โ
Eldridge played for the New York Sirens in her first two seasons. In total, the Barrie, ON native has amassed 23 goals and 28 assists in 73 games. She recently became the ninth player in PWHL history to surpass 50 career points. The Torrent selected Eldridge with their third pick of the 2025 PWHL Expansion draft (sixth overall). PWHL New York previously drafted her in the third round (16th overall) of the inaugural PWHL draft.
Meanwhile, Schafzahl has spent all three seasons with the Fleet. The Weiz, Austria native tallied eight goals and nine assists in 69 career games.ย PWHL Boston drafted her in the seventh round (39th overall) of the inaugural PWHL draft.ย
โTheresa is a veteran forward who is steady and reliable in all areas of the ice and all situations,โ Torrent general manager Meghan Turner said via a press release. โShe lifts her teammates up with simple, gritty plays, and weโre very excited to have her join us in Seattle. This trade was about what we believe is the best fit for our team and the identity weโre trying to build. We thank Jessie for her contributions to our inaugural season and wish her the best of luck in Boston.
Eldridge will make her Fleet debut tomorrow, March 17, against the Toronto Sceptres at Agganis Arena. Seattle’s next game is a road matchup with the Montrรฉal Victoire on Thursday, March 19, although it is unclear if Schafzahl will debut.
