New York and Minnesota completed the first deal of Trade Deadline day. Forward Denisa Křížová heads to the Sirens in exchange for defender Jincy Roese. This marks the third PWHL stop for both players. Křížova was selected by the expansion Vancouver Goldeneyes before being traded back to the Frost. Roese, meanwhile, signed with New York after two seasons with the Ottawa Charge.

The Returns

For both teams, the trade addresses a need that has become more pressing as of late. The Sirens are without Taylor Girard for the remainder of the season due to injury. Fellow forwards Kristýna Kaltounková, Casey O’Brien, and Maddi Wheeler have all missed time since the Olympic break. The Frost, meanwhile, have been without defender Natalie Buchbinder. They’re also coming off two consecutive regulation losses for the first time this season. The Frost allowed at least three goals in regulation in both after previously doing so just four times.

Křížova, 31, has recorded a goal and five points in 23 games with Minnesota this season. A two-time Walter Cup champion, Křížova set career highs with four goals and nine points last year. She’s put at least 50 shots on goal in both of her seasons and has yet to miss a game in her PWHL career.

“[Adding] Denisa Křížová allows us to strengthen our offensive group at an important time,” said Sirens general manager Pascal Daoust in a press release. “She brings experience, composure, and leadership, along with a style of play that fits well with the identity we’re building with the Sirens.”

Roese, 28, has notched six assists in 22 games with the Sirens. Like Křížová, Roese is a former Olympian who set a career high in points last season. She recorded three goals and 14 points with Ottawa. She’s averaged 15:24 of ice time per game with New York, a sharp downturn from her 21:46 with the Charge in 2024-25.

“Jincy has proven to be a powerful defender through her tenure in the league and has a skillset we’re enthusiastic to add to our blue line,” Frost general manager Melissa Caruso said of Roese. “Across her three seasons, she has proven to be very impactful in different systems, and we look forward to what she will add to our team.”
