The Seattle Torrent announced Thursday that captain Hilary Knight has been placed on long-term injured reserve and that rookie forward Sydney Langseth has signed a Standard Player Agreement with the Professional Women’s Hockey League.

In a statement, the Torrent said Knight sustained a lower-body injury while representing the United States at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and will be out of Seattle’s lineup indefinitely. Through 14 regular season games, the 36-year-old captain recorded three goals and seven assists.

“While we’re eager to be at full strength and recognize the anticipation of Hilary’s return, we’re focused on putting her and our team in the best position for a playoff push,” general manager Meghan Turner said in a statement. “Hilary’s leadership extends beyond her gameplay, and as we rely on her in other ways to start this half, we’re supporting her in full as she recovers.”

Knight joins Kendall Coyne Schofield, Marie-Philip Poulin, and Erin Ambrose in the list of returning Olympians currently out of their PWHL lineups.

Langseth, 24, was previously on the team’s reserve player list after earning an invitation to Seattle’s inaugural training camp. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native played five collegiate seasons at Minnesota State University. She finished her career as the Mavericks’ all-time leader in games played with 162 and ranking sixth in program history with 90 points.

Knight will miss the Torrent’s returns to action Friday night against the Toronto Sceptres at 7 PM PT at Climate Pledge Arena, marking the team’s first game since the Olympic break.
