It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal and Atlanta Dream’s guard AD. In a must-listen interview with Howard, AD discusses their COVID diagnosis and the experience of getting traded from the New York Liberty to the Atlanta Dream.

AD shares their experience at Louisville while facing adversity:

“Yes, the amount of challenges that I’ve faced. Going back to my freshman year in college has been really hard to put into words, but it definitely has made me stronger. And especially when I tore my groin, in college, both of my groins were hurt. My right one was 100% torn, my left one was 70% torn. So I had some jacked up hips.”

AD talks about their first year in the WNBA while still facing injuries:

“My first year, I started having more pain in my right hip. I played about 18 games. I kept trying to go kept trying to play, I was doing treatment, 24/7 PT, all that stuff. And then turns out I had a Labrum tear in my right hip and a hip Impingement. Yeah, so that kind of took me down too and so I ended up having to get surgery on both hips.

So, when that took place, that was pretty hard itself. So I thought, my first year going down, I will be able to get back in PT, after having surgery and bounce back.”
