"Sun Shine to open playoffs" tagline on preview thumbnail for the Aug. 19 episode of the Locked on Women's Basketball podcast
On the newest Locked on Women's Basketball podcast, the Connecticut Sun are a win away from advancing to the WNBA semifinals after a game one win over the Dallas Wings

Itโ€™s time for another episode of theย Locked on Womenโ€™s Basketballย podcast. The latest episode featuresย host Alex Simon of Bay Area News Group, who is joined byย The Nextโ€™sย Connecticut Sun beat writer Jacqueline LeBlanc for a look at the Sun’s beginning to the playoffs.

Jacqueline and Alex discuss Connecticut’s Game 1 victory over Dallas, the series’ outlook going forward, as well as a look back at the incredible Game 1 of the Seattle-Washington series on Thursday night.

Jacqueline on Connecticut’s strong defensive showing in Game 1 in the face of a cruising Dallas Wings’ offense:

That’s what they do best. They know it’s what they had to do going into this game. Dallas has been so hot in the month of August. I think Howard [Megdal] actually brought it up a few days ago, I believe it was that since Teaira McCowan has been inserted into the starting lineup, so that was 13 games and after the All-Star break, Dallas had an offensive rating of 110, which is absolutely insane. That matches the 2019 Mystics (who hold the all-time record for offensive rating in a single season)

Alex on the excellent nightcap game Thursday between Seattle and Washington that went down to the wire:

It was, honest to god, one of the best basketball games we’ve had all season. These two teams are incredibly evenly matched, I think it was pointed out there was a whopping two-point difference at halftime, and only a one point margin after the third quarter.
