On the latest episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, host Natalie Heavren continues her long-form series featuring conversations with various players and coaches from A-10 media day earlier this month. In this latest installment, Heavren chats with players and coaches from Rhode Island, George Mason, Virginia Commonwealth, Saint Louis and Dayton.

Heavren opens the show by recapping her conversation with Rhode Island head coach Tammi Reiss and senior guard Sophie Phillips. When she asks what excites them about the season, Reiss says it’s the newness. “All the new faces, really the uncertainty, watching everyone go through the process,” Reiss says.

And Phillips agrees. “I’m excited for all the new faces,” she says. “I think it’s just our personalities as well. It’s what’s exciting, on the court and off the court.”

Later on, Heavren talks to George Mason head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis and senior guard Paula Suรกrez about their upcoming season and what excites them. “I think for us, having a veteran team,” Blair-Lewis responds. “We were really playing our best basketball at the end of last season.”

Suรกrez then spoke on how she plans to approach this upcoming season. “I think last year was a lot of progress,” Suรกrez says. “Seniors this year … having new people come in … just feeling more comfortable, like wanting them to be the best person.”
