Going into the 2025 WNBA Draft, there was no question that Paige Bueckers would go at No. 1. Now, the new Dallas Wings guard joins an elite group of first overall picks alongside players like Sue Bird, Tina Charles, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi, who all played with a little extra pressure and anticipation during their rookie campaigns.
Bueckers is fresh off a record-setting season, which she capped with her first NCAA title with the Huskies. There is already debate about whether she will have a similar impact on the league like Caitlin Clark did last year, but Wings executive vice president and general manager Curt Miller said Bueckers is her own story.
