I had something for the top of this but then it got so long I turned it into its own article. So this weekโs Wraparound is just a bunch of links. Thereโs some fun stuff from this week (like a giant puck), as well as a bunch of links about the women in the NHL All-Star game.
This piece by ESPNโs Emily Kaplan came out this morning. It looks at the ZhHL, their relationship with the ZHL (the menโs league), and how it basically acts as model for North American womenโs hockey.
What the NHL can learn from the KHLโs support of womenโs hockey
The WHL is supported financially and promoted by the KHL, a system similar to what North American women want from the NHL.
Steph Klein, the equipment manager for KRS, follows up with an interesting thread too.
Equipment truck, dressing and dry room, coaches room, medical room, equipment room and laundry (loops & jerseys) in every city… DAYS before puck drop. All provided by the home team. This is the STANDARD across pro leagues & it’s finally on the women’s side @khl_eng @khl https://t.co/uaZgevLB4n

NWHL
Saturday was one of the craziest days in NWHL play weโve had this season.
It finally happened: the Boston Pride are no longer undefeated. In one of the wildest games (two goals were scored in the final minute!), the Minnesota Whitecaps handed the Pride their first lose of the season on Saturday. Jillian Dempsey netted her second of the game to tie it up at 19:03, but seven seconds later Allie Thunstrom stormed off the faceoff and went top shelf to win it.
The Connecticut Whale got their second win of the season after besting the Metropolitan Riveters in an eight-round shootout. Of the 16 shooters, only one scored – Sarah Schwenzfeier.
Sunday was a little calmer. The Pride won, and clinched first place in the regular season. The Riveters won as well.
Regular season play is paused for the next two weekends, but the All-Star Weekend is in Boston Feb. 8-9.

PWHPA
The PWHPA didnโt have any games in the last week.
The Arizona Coyotes did announce the next Dream Gap Tour stop in the midst of the NHL All-Star Weekend: March 6-8 in Tempe, AZ. Details are scarce in the NHL story about it with only nine players announced. This is the third stop on the second leg of the Dream Gap Tour, and the second thatโs not in a traditional womenโs hockey market.
The Coyotes had Amanda Kessel and Megan Bozek out there earlier this week too.
