It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal. Sue Bird conquered New York one last time on Sunday.
Howard talks about Bird’s incredible career and being her last game in New York:
“It was an emotional afternoon for everyone. Sunday at Barclays Center. Sue Bird greatest point guard in the history of this sport. Probably going to be the greatest point guard in the history of this sport for as long as I’m covering. She played her final game in New York, the Syosset, New York native in front of friends and family. In front of a loud crowd that typically is pro Liberty but definitely was pro Sue Bird as well, enjoyed what was start to finish a remarkable game.”
Sue Bird reflects on how special her last game in New York was:
“I don’t think anything will be like it was today. Just given that I’m from here. Given that I know, so many people in the stands who are so close to me. So this is always going to be a little different or always was going to be a little bit different. But yeah, I guess it is a taste of what’s to come.
But I do want to give a special thank you to the New York Liberty. They were amazing just in helping me secure tickets, helping my family, the way I feel important today. And they were just great all around.”
