On Thursday, Team USA announced the 14-player roster for a pre-Olympics training camp, which will take place in Cleveland at Clinic Courts from April 3 to 5.
Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark, the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball, is included on the national teamโs training camp roster, and her participation will be subject to her teamโs progression in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Clark has won three gold medals with USA Basketball junior national teams, including one as a member of the 2021 U.S. womenโs U-19 national team. She won the Most Valuable Player award in the World Cup Tournament.
Clark recently declared for this yearโs WNBA Draft and is presumed to be the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever on April 15.
Five-time Olympic gold medalist and Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi is one of nine Olympians listed on the training camp roster. That list also includes Washington Mysticsโ Ariel Atkins; Las Vegas Acesโ Chelsea Gray; Kelsey Plum, Aโja Wilson, and Jackie Young; the New York Libertyโs Breanna Stewart, the Phoenix Mercuryโs Brittney Griner, and the Seattle Stormโs Jewell Loyd. Plum and Young won gold medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as members of the U.S. 3×3 womenโs national team.
Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston and Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard, the last two No. 1 draft picks in the WNBA, were also named to the roster, along with the Libertyโs Sabrina Ionescu and the Washington Mysticsโ Shakira Austin.
Minnesota Lynx head coach and four-time WNBA Champion Cheryl Reeve will be the head coach throughout Team USA’s training camp. In February, Team USA participated in an Olympic qualifying tournament in Antwerp, Belgium, and went undefeated, 3-0. They are headed to the Summer Olympics, where they will face Japan on July 29, Belgium on Aug. 1, and Germany on Aug. 4.
