On Friday’s episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, host Jackie Powell is joined by The Next’s Jesse Morrison, who will be covering all of the festivities at WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. The pair previews the entire weekend including the Skills Challenge, 3×3 Exhibition, WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest and the game itself, including the special halftime performance from Pitbull. Jackie and Jesse also discuss how the league has grown the WNBA All-Star experience and predict what to expect league commissioner Cathy Engelbert to reveal in her state of the league address.

Jesse, after expressing disappointment that guards Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu won’t be competing in Friday’s 3-Point Contest, makes a prediction about who he expects to win.

“I’m gonna say Stef Dolson just because she’s 49% from three this year — that’s a crazy high number. And it’s not like she’s not taking any threes a game, she’s up [to] four, five threes a game. … I like her as a pick for this competition for sure,” Jesse said.

“People tuning into this [game] are gonna see a competitive, competitive two hours of high-level basketball, because these are players on Team WNBA, some of which were in the running to be on Team USA but did not make it. So there’s some serious juice,” Jackie said. “I mean, obviously we know everyone’s talking about Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark being on the same team. But there are many more storylines than just those two.”
