On Thursday, Iowa guard Caitlin Clark became the new NCAA Division I womenโ€™s basketball scoring leader. On today’s podcast, Locked on Women’s Basketball host Hunter Cruse is joined by co-host Lincoln Shafer for the ultimate Caitlin Clark scouting report.

“So, for me, she’s somewhere in the range of the fourth-best prospect of all time to the sixth-best prospect of all time in the WNBA era,” Lincoln said on the podcast. “But she’s far and away the best guard prospect in maybe the history of women’s basketball. … If you took away her handle and her passing, she’d be one of the best shooting prospects we’ve ever seen. If you took away her shooting, she’d be one of the best pure point guards we’ve ever seen. I run out of things to say about Caitlin Clark’s offensive game. It’s absurd. She’s averaging almost 33 points per game.”

Later, the co-hosts discuss how Clark will fit with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, who currently hold the overall No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Should Clark declare for the draft, it’s all but guaranteed she’ll team up with last season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year, Aliyah Boston, who was selected No. 1 by the Fever in 2023.

“The thing I think would benefit Caitlin most with Indiana [is] just the infrastructure in general. I think they have a good understanding of having young players. … I think this is a really good organization,” Hunter said. “And to have other young players alongside [like] NaLyssa Smith. These players are really going to benefit from just having a point guard that can draw so much gravity.”
