It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal and Chicago Sky reporter James Kay. James and Howard discuss how the Chicago Sky managed to erase a 28-point deficit, the largest comeback in WNBA history, to beat the Las Vegas Aces.
James talks about the Sky’s chance to come back from a 28-point deficit:
“At halftime. Honestly, I mean, this team looked so calm on the bench. This is one of those games where I really wish I could have just read the body language of everyone that was on the bench last game for the Sky. Because early on in the game, you saw James Wade, sitting down and taking a seat when he’s usually very animated on the sideline. And it looked like it was just going to be one of those long days for the Sky where they get punched in the mouth early on.”
James talks about how the Sky have improved shooting-wise:
“This is one of the reasons why I’ve been pushing James Wade on this a little bit just asking about, Hey, you don’t identify as a three point shooting team but you have all these players that are well above average when it comes to shooting from beyond the arc in their careers.
And one of the most miraculous things about this comeback, Kahleah Copper went 3-11 from the field. The Sky didn’t get their first free throw attempt until eight minutes and three seconds into the fourth quarter.”
