On the latest episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, host Howard Megdal and The Next’s New York Liberty beat writer Jackie Powell recap the Minnesota Lynx‘s 82-80 defeat over the Liberty in Game 4 of the WNBA finals. They review Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello‘s frustration with the officiating, listen to reflections from Lynx players, and more.

Megdal and Powell open the show by reflecting on Brondello’s reaction to the game. “This one will be for the ages,” Megdal says, referring to the thriller. “And Sandy Brondello, who is … one of the nicest coaches in the league. … She went off. She was not happy about some of the calls that were made, or specifically, were not made.”

Later on, Megdal and Powell discuss Bridget Carleton‘s performance for the Lynx. Powell shares that she voted for Carleton as most improved, and explains her decision. “It’s not just her minutes,” Powell says. “It was her production in those minutes … it was the percentages, the efficiency.”

To close out the show, Megdal and Powell discuss, among other things, how the league will transition to a seven-game finals next year, from its current five-game finals. “We’ve got a best of seven coming for the WNBA next year,” Megdal says. “This feels like a glimpse into what is coming and also, sort of, the end of not just an era but an era punctuated by the best WNBA year anybody can remember.”
