On the latest episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, host Gigi Speer discusses the news of Jayson Tatum‘s interest in WNBA expansion with Noa Dalzell. The two discuss the likelihood of the deal coming together, the women’s basketball atmosphere in Massachusetts โ Dalzell’s home โ and more.
Speer and Dalzell open the show by discussing the atmosphere of basketball fandom in Boston. “The Celtics obviously won the championship,” Dalzell begins. ” … It’s probably similar to what you feel with the Liberty fan base, where it just kind of seems like there’s always the next thing. The championship parade, banner night … but there’s a lot of buzz and excitement about basketball right now.”
Later on, the two discuss the likelihood of Jayson Tatum’s interest in WNBA expansion materializing. When Speer asks Dalzell if she thinks Tatum might follow through on something like this, she says yes. “He has a great team around him,” Dalzell says. “I’m not surprised that he looked at the growth of women’s basketball… and thought to himself, maybe I want to get in on this.”
Speer and Dalzell end the show by drafting dream basketball-playing Thanksgiving guests. A few of Dalzell’s incldue Maya Moore, Bill Russell, and Diana Taurasi.
