On the latest episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, Howard Megdal chats with broadcaster Kylen Mills, WNBAer Monique Billings, and journalist Jordan Robinson on FireTV’s Bracket Breakdown. They discuss the upcoming Final Four face-off between Texas and South Carolina. The episode also includes excerpts from conversations between podcaster Tenitra Batiste and The Next contributors Rob Knox and Wilton Jackson.
Mills opens the show by describing the current state of affairs in the Final Four, stating that South Carolina has looked “very beatable.” She asks Billings about the focus levels of the current Gamecocks squad.
“They just haven’t looked like the same South Carolina team we’re used to seeing,” Billings says. “They’re matching the energy of their opponents, rather than setting the tone.”
Later on, Mills asks Megdal if he thinks Madison Booker gives this Texas team the edge. “I do,” Megdal says. “Booker, remember, was a 31% three-point shooter last year. This year, she’s 41%. … With Madison Booker, in this moment, we have the chance to see someone build a legacy.”
Towards the end of the show, Batiste asks Jackson what it will take for the Longhorns to beat the Gamecocks on Friday. “For Texas, they’re gonna have to play good defense,” Jackson says. “But it still comes down to… Madison Booker, and her ability to make shots.”
