It’s time for another episode of the Locked on Women’s Basketball podcast. This episode features host Howard Megdal and The Next‘s Storm beat reporter Rowan Schaberg to discuss Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm and Elena Delle Donne of the Washington Mystics facing off in a pair of weekend games.
Rowan talks about the similarity between the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics:
“I took a deep dive into both games. And I think it’s those two games that they played were really good games to take a deep dive into because the teams are so similar and they play so similarly. And so I think it was kind of like the teams were playing themselves and seeing where they had a lot of gaps in their play. And so now they can see what they need to improve on. And it was really cool to watch.”
Rowan talks about the matchup between Breanna Stewart and Elena Delle Donne weekend games:
“Yeah, it was awesome. I mean, thinking back to the 2018 series they did, It felt like the semi-finals were Seattle and Phoenix was more of a finals feeling. And in the 2018 finals, it was just like yeah, something was missing. You know, Elena Delle Donne wasn’t playing the way that we all know her to play. And so it is true that what is it now like four years later, it feels like you finally got that finals matchup feeling between the Mystics and the Storm. It definitely didn’t disappoint. Elena Delle Donne played really well. Seattle, their coach Noelle Quinn was talking about how that was the main priority.”
