On the latest episode of Locked On Women’s Basketball, host Howard Megdal talks to The Next’s Stephanie Kaloi about who they would pick for various WNBA superlatives. The Next’s New York Liberty beat writer Jackie Powell also catches up with Jonquel Jones, Megdal gives an update on Caitlin Clark‘s groin injury, and more.
Powell opens the show by giving a much-anticipated update on Jones, whose health has been up and down this summer. “She told us she will make her return to the court on July 22 when the Liberty take on the Fever again at home,” Powell explains.
Later on, Megdal and Kaloi talk about who they would vote for as Coach of the Year. “Natalie Nakase, hands down,” Kaloi says, nodding to the coach of the Golden State Valkyries. “She is true to her words. She is producing the results she promised. The Valkyries have defied everyone’s expectations. … She is incredible.”
Megdal and Kaloi make other predictions, and finish the episode with a debate over who will win the 3-Point competition during the All-Star weekend. “Everyone is stacked,” Kaloi says. “Sonia [Citron] and Kelsey [Plum], their three point percentages are crazy right now.” While Kaloi can’t commit to one answer, Megdal can: Citron.
And don’t miss this additional episode from Megdal, where he discusses what Caitlin Clark’s latest injury means for the upcoming All-Star weekend, as well as for the remainder of the Indiana Fever‘s season.
