This week on The IX Sports Podcast College Basketball Edition, hosts Melissa Triebwasser and Michael Waterloo break down the state of the Big 12 Conference ahead of the season.
Just like they’ve done for the Big 10, the ACC, and the mid-major conferences, Triebwasser and Waterloo drafted the teams they think will make it to the NCAA Tournament come March.
Before jumping into the specifics, Triebwasser laid some of her big-picture views on the table.
“I think Baylor adding Kate Koval immediately kind of fulfills a big need for them,” Triebwasser said, referring to Baylor.
“And bringing in Koval, I think … kind of puts them over the top. And … they’ve been in the thick the last two years. It’s not like they’ve been a disappointing team, but they could definitely — I definitely expect them to be near the top. And then, of course, you know we talk about West Virginia and Arizona State as two teams that I do not want to have to face,” Triebwasser continued.

Waterloo picked Oklahoma State University as the first team he thinks will make the tournament, citing Coach Jacie Hoyt and Iowa State transfer Audi Crooks as two big reasons he thinks the team will do well. With the second pick, Triebwasser picked the TCU Horned Frogs to make the tournament.
Trading off picks, Waterloo picked Baylor, citing Koval, and Triebwasser picked up Arizona State University. Triebwasser said that Head Coach Molly Miller — a former guest on The IX Sports Podcast — makes it impossible not to root for her.
“She’s such a great coach. She has such a vision for her programs and her teams, and she’s able to get her teams to buy in and execute that vision, and I think when you are that secure in your identity of how you want to play and and behave and react as Molly Miller does, it’s impossible to not be successful,” Triebwasser said.
This week on New Face, New Place, Waterloo and Triebwasser discuss the transfer of Crooks from Iowa State to Oklahoma State and Liv McGill from University of Florida to Oklahoma State.
