The Walter Cup playoffs are here! But first, on the last day of the regular season, the Vancouver Goldeneyes won the Gold Plan, and the Montréal Victoire clinched first overall in the regular season.

On the latest episode of The IX Sports Podcast, hosts Maya Smith and Alyssa talk about the future for the Goldeneyes after getting the first-overall pick and who they might choose.

“I personally think there’s one player and one player only they should be drafting, and it’s Caroline Harvey,” said Alyssa. “…I think it’s gonna be a perfect fit, I genuinely do. She’s gonna have a fan base that loves their players, and she’s very lovable, both her talent on the ice, but also off ice – she’s one of the biggest names in the sport at the moment, and will be for decades.”

“Of the two teams, I think Vancouver showed in the final stretch that they are actually the better team, and would have been if the season was a bit longer,” added Smith. “So it is kind of a bummer for Seattle to not get that pick, but then at the same time, second is going to be just as amazing this year.”

“I think if it’s any other year, Laila Edwards goes first overall,” Alyssa continued. “…I think if you’re Seattle and it looks like you’re gonna get that second overall pick, you’re getting one of the best players in the world, regardless.”
