In hockey, there probably isn’t a single position or player on a team that has more of a routine than it’s goaltender. For Team Czechia, with increased pressure bubbling from being on home ice with over 90,000 spectators, this is the exact type of head space they need from their netminder, Klára Peslarová.
The Ice Garden grabbed a few words from Peslarová before Czechia’s opening match against Switzerland on April 9th. If you are reading this after the game has occurred, perhaps you were able to catch what their win song is on social media!
TIG: How have you prepared for the intensity of tournament play in the middle of a PWHL season? Are there any elements from your PWHL experience that you feel will be most valuable for this World Championship?
KP: Of course, all the sudden you play with bigger names than you did. Players in this league are more skilled so it add me a bit. Since February camp I was in touch with our goalie coach where we prepare for this tournament. Otherwise nothing big changed for me, still focus on each puck.
TIG: What will be the key to success for Czechia in this tournament?
KP: I think we have a good group of people. We’ve know each other for a longer period and we always have fun. I believe if we stick together, we can get far.

TIG: With over 70,000 tickets sold and one of your strongest rosters thus far, describe your and the teams’ feelings heading into your home ice appearance?
KP: What I heard, it’s already 90,000 tickets, looking good! We are excited to play at home in front of our family and friends.
TIG: Is there a win-song for your team and if so, what is it? If not, what’s one of your favorite pre-game songs?
KP: We do have the same winning song; I am not sure if I can say a name but it’s on social media after the game so you can sing with us!
