The Connecticut Whale have signed standout defender Maude Poulin-Labelle, the team announced Wednesday. The one-year deal is valued at $69,000 with a $4,000 signing bonus. She joins Allie Munroe, Tori Howran, and Kacey Bellamy on an already solid Connecticut blue line.
“Maude is a highly-talented player with a bright future ahead of her in the PHF,” Head Coach Colton Orr said in the team’s emailed press release. “Her exceptional skating ability, strong defensive play, and offensive contributions make her a valuable asset to the Whale. We are excited to welcome her to the team and see her continue to develop and thrive at the professional level.”
Poulin-Labelle, 23, is coming off a stellar collegiate career that included four years as a Vermont Catamount and finished this past season at Northeastern University. She racked up 79 points in 113 games at UVM, where she was named a First-Team All-Star and a Division I CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American in the 2021-2022 season. The next year at Northeastern, she scored 22 points as a Hockey East Second-Team All-Star and helped the Huskies earn their sixth straight Hockey East Championship.
