On Friday, the Minnesota Frost announced that they have placed captain Kendall Coyne Schofield on LTIR retroactive to February 19th due to an upper-body injury sustained at the Olympic Games.
Kendall Coyne Schofield was a big part of the Frost’s league-leading offense in the first half of the PWHL season. Through 15 games this season, Coyne Schofield is among the league leaders in points, goals, and plus-minus. Coyne Schofield is tied for the league lead with 16 points. Her ten goals lead the Frost in goalscoring. Through 15 games, Coyne Schofield was on pace for a career high in goals and points. She will be eligible to return to the lineup on or after March 13th.
In a corresponding move, The Frost activated รlizabeth Giguรจre from their reserve player list and signed her to a PWHL Standard Player Agreement. Giguรจre spent the last two seasons in New York, where she scored four points in both the 2024 season and the 2024-2025 season. Giguรจre is a veteran of 53 PWHL games. In her five-year college career, Giguรจre scored 295 points in 177 games. She won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2020.
In a statement announcing the moves, General Manager Melissa Caruso shared, “Fortunately, รlizabeth has been training with us since the start of the season, and her skill and experience will be a tremendous asset to our lineup in Kendall’s absence.”
The Frost are back in action on Sunday, March 1st, when they take on the Montrรฉal Victoire.
