The New York Sirens announced Monday that they have signed Lauren Bernard to a Standard Player Agreement for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Bernard was previously on the Sceptres reserve list after playing 15 games with the team in the 2024-25 season. In a corresponding roster move, the Sirens have assigned Olivia Knowles to the team’s Reserve Player List.

“Lauren was a targeted player in the draft due to her skating abilitiesโ€“both with and without the puckโ€“her vision and the experience she gained in her role with the championship team,” Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust said, “As a rookie in the league, our plan is to give her the time and support she needs to develop while maintaining a high-caliber defensive core for the future.”

Bernard was drafted 24th overall by the Toronto Sceptres in the 2024 draft and put up 1 assist in 15 games with the team this season. She spent three seasons at Ohio State, winning two national championships, and was a three-time OSU scholar-athlete. She’ll join former teammates Payton Levis, Gabby Rosenthal, ร‰lizabeth Giguรจre, and Ella Shelton on the Sirens.

Olivia Knowles joined the Sirens in a similar way, after the Sirens signed her off the Sceptres Reserve Player List at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. She joined the team when Ella Shelton got injured, playing 10 games. By returning her to the Reserve Player List, she can be signed by any team to a Standard Player Agreement.

The Sirens are in need of some new energy to end their nine-game losing streak. They take on the Victoire on Wednesday, March 12.
