The PWHL’s Toronto Sceptres acquired defender Ella Shelton from the New York Sirens in exchange for the third overall and twenty-seventh overall selections in the 2025 PWHL Draft.
The league announced the trade during Tuesday’s draft.

Shelton is a left-handed defender from Ingersoll, Ontario who has spent the last two seasons with New York. This past season, she recorded 16 points (8-8) in 24 games. Overall, she has averaged 0.77 points per game in her PWHL career.
The Sirens used the third overall pick, acquired in the trade, to acquire forward Casey O’Brien. O’Brien was a highly-touted prospect heading into the draft, as the Patty Kazmaier Award winner and a four-time NCAA champion. She had 274 points, including 177 assists, in 182 NCAA games.
