Happy Hockey Friday! Are you still buzzing from the women’s USA vs. Canada gold-medal overtime thriller last week and wondering if there’s other high-level women’s hockey out there?
Well, you’re in luck! I’m Sally Hoerr from The Ice Garden and here’s three leagues where you can see your favorite Olympians continue tearing up the ice.

PWHL
The PWHL (Professional Women’s Hockey Association) is the highest level of women’s hockey in the world and based in North America. It currently consists of eight teams, four Canadian and four American with rumored expansion for the 2026-2027 season. The PWHL has regular season games all the way until April 25th. Plenty of time to choose a favorite team and get involved in the fanbase before playoffs!
The PWHL currently houses the majority of Team USA, all of Team Canada and a significant number of Team Czechia players. Many other countries from the tournament also have a handful of players with PWHL experience including Lina Ljungblom (Sweden), Alina Müller (Switzerland), Laura Kluge (Germany) and Tapani Susanna (Finland).
If you don’t have a PWHL team in your city but want to see the action live, check to see if you’re near one of the nine remaining Takeover Tour locations. The PWHL is looking for new cities to field teams, so get out there and show your support!
Can’t make it in person? All PWHL games are available to watch for free on YouTube with alternative local and national broadcasts listed on their website.

We are excited to announce the launch of TWO new podcasts for all the women’s sports fans out there looking for a daily dose of women’s sports news and analysis. Stream on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or anywhere you listen to podcasts, and make sure to subscribe!
SDHL
The SDHL (Svenska Damhockeyligan) is considered the second best women’s professional league in the world and the highest level of hockey in Sweden. While the SDHL’s primary focus is developing and producing elite Swedish players, it attracts top talent from all over the world.
Team Switzerland’s goaltender, Andrea Brändli, who held Canada to only four goals out of 55 shots, rejoins Frölunda HC on their quest to become back-to-back SDHL champions. She may battle against recognizable Olympic names including Team Italy’s hometown-hero Nadia Mattivi and dynamic Team Japan forward Akane Shiga (Lulea HF), 7x SDHL champion and Team Finland legend Noora Tulus (Brynäs IF), or 10 of Team Sweden’s players dispersed across five different teams.
The SDHL followed the PWHL footsteps and are hosting all games for free on YouTube. The regular season wraps up this week before jumping right into playoffs. The commentary is in Swedish, but if you understand puck you’ll be just fine.

NCAA
Inspired by Laila Edwards becoming the first Black American woman to win gold for USA women’s hockey? Want to watch more shifts from Olympic tournament MVP Caroline Harvey? Maybe take a peak at the rising stars for Team Canada? Then you’ll want to head over to the NCAA.
Forty current NCAA players represented their country in the 2026 Olympics and are flying right into their respective conference playoffs. While nearly all conferences were represented in the Olympics, the conference with the most household names is the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). If you’re already subscribed to B1G+, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV or other streaming/traditional channels, you can tune into the WCHA playoffs.

The women’s Frozen Four and national championship starts on March 20 at Penn State University and will be streamed on ESPN+.
So, don’t be sad the Olympics are over — be happy knowing you can watch the best players in the world chase another championship!
